Terms of Service

Last updated: August 2, 2026

Terms of ServicePrivacy PolicyCookie Policy

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Kairne(the “Service”), including our website, dashboard, public profile pages, and related features. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Who we are

Kairneis operated by the individual or entity that publishes this Service (“we,” “us,” or “our”). For questions about these Terms, contact us at support@kairne.dev.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with permission from a parent or legal guardian who accepts these Terms on your behalf. You must provide accurate registration information and keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account.

3. The Service

Kairne helps developers build and publish a proof-of-work portfolio. Depending on your plan, the Service may include:

  • A public profile at a username-based URL (for example, /@username)
  • GitHub account linking and repository synchronization
  • Curated project case studies, updates, and resume content
  • Resume PDF generation and optional resume file upload
  • Recruiter analytics on public profile engagement (Pro plan only)
  • Paid subscriptions processed through Stripe

We may add, change, or remove features at any time. Free and paid plans have different feature limits as described on our pricing page.

4. Accounts and authentication

You sign in through supported OAuth providers (currently GitHub). We may require email verification for certain actions, including paid subscriptions. You agree not to share your account, impersonate others, or use another person's account without permission.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, pose a security risk, or remain inactive for extended periods, subject to applicable law.

5. Your content and public profiles

You retain ownership of content you submit to the Service, including profile text, project case studies, updates, resume details, and uploaded files (“User Content”). You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute your User Content solely to operate, improve, and promote the Service.

Public profile pages are accessible to anyone on the internet unless restricted by a feature we provide. Information you choose to publish — including your name, bio, location, social links, contact email, project details, resume data, and embedded media — may be viewed, indexed by search engines, and shared by visitors. You are solely responsible for what you publish and for ensuring you have the rights to display linked repositories, media, and third-party content.

Usernames are subject to availability and our naming policies. Reserved or misleading names may be rejected or reclaimed. Former usernames may redirect for a limited period after a change.

6. GitHub and third-party integrations

When you connect GitHub, you authorize us to access GitHub data needed to sync repositories, profile metadata, and contribution information according to the permissions you grant. We store OAuth tokens securely to maintain the connection until you disconnect or delete your account. Your use of GitHub is also governed by GitHub's terms and policies.

The Service may embed or link to third-party services you configure, such as Loom videos, personal websites, or social profiles. We are not responsible for third-party sites or services.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful purposes
  • Publish content that infringes intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of others
  • Upload malware, spam, or content that is harassing, hateful, or sexually exploitative of minors
  • Attempt to probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service or bypass access controls
  • Scrape, crawl, or harvest data from the Service except through documented APIs or with our written permission
  • Misrepresent your identity, affiliation, or ownership of projects
  • Resell or commercially exploit the Service without authorization

We may remove content or restrict access that violates these rules or creates legal or security risk.

8. Subscriptions and billing

Kairne offers a free plan and a paid Pro plan. Pro is billed through Stripe at the prices shown on our pricing page (currently $4 per month or $39 per year, USD). Prices may change with notice; changes apply to new billing periods after notice is given.

By subscribing, you authorize Stripe to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled before the renewal date. You can manage or cancel your subscription through the billing portal in Settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period unless otherwise stated.

Except where required by law, fees are non-refundable. Downgrading or canceling Pro may remove access to Pro-only features, including recruiter analytics history beyond the free-plan retention window.

Payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers.

9. Recruiter analytics (Pro)

Pro subscribers may view aggregated analytics about visitors to their public profiles, such as page views, project clicks, resume downloads, approximate country, referrer, and device type. Analytics are collected using first-party technology; we do not sell visitor data or use third-party advertising trackers on your profile.

Analytics data is retained for up to 90 days for Pro accounts. You are responsible for using analytics in compliance with applicable privacy laws and for any notices you provide to your profile visitors where required.

10. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, branding, and documentation (excluding User Content), is owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or brand assets except as needed to use the Service as intended.

11. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT GITHUB DATA, ANALYTICS, OR RESUME OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE OR MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE AND OUR SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) USD $50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

13. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your User Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or third-party rights.

14. Termination and account deletion

You may stop using the Service at any time. You may permanently delete your account from Settings → Security. GitHub-only accounts must confirm deletion through a link we email to your account address. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone; it removes your profile, portfolio data, uploaded resume, and associated analytics we store for your account.

If you have an active Pro subscription when you delete your account, it is canceled immediately. Except where required by law, we do not refund unused subscription time (see Section 8). You may also contact us at support@kairne.dev for help with deletion requests.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms or if required for legal, security, or operational reasons. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. Provisions that by nature should survive (including ownership, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and indemnification) will survive termination.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be communicated by email or in-product notice. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable where the Service operator is located, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing a formal dispute, you agree to contact us at support@kairne.dev and attempt to resolve the issue informally.

17. Miscellaneous

If any provision of these Terms is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
